Track Of The Day :: Sour - Waiting For You

Words: Sam Geary

Released last Friday (June 28) via Are You Ready Records, the now duo formation of Sour return with 'Waiting For You'.

The track - which comes via the accompanying video, below - is the follow up to April's 'Separate Ways’, where Connar Ridd (formerly known under the moniker FREAK), introduced his new dance-pop project, with Jonn Downham. Over three minutes of funk-dripped, clipped beats, intricately worked baselines and a raft of atmospheric synths, Ridd pours his emotive vocal into the song's messsge.

"It’s a stubborn and impatient declaration of love," he explains. "It’s about that once in a life time feeling. The gravitational pull between two people like an addiction and that addiction is so vulnerable because to feel it you have to offer all of you.

"I wanted to get across the underlying feeling of hopelessness and self-destruction too. It’s like having blurred vision whilst blindly walking forward. You can’t see yet you don’t care because what you feel is more important, it’s disregarding everything you know for someone.”

Listen in now.
