Track Of The Day :: PROM - Touch Me

Words: Ellie Ward

Produced by Rory Attwell, 'Touch Me' is the new banger of a single from London four-piece PROM. Self-released as a double A-side with 'I'll Teach You' on October 16, it follows on from their debut 'Cry Baby Cry'/'Celebrate'.

The three-and-a-half minute 'Touch Me’ sees Angela Won-Yin Mak lead a fierce front on powerful "industrial surf”, with serrated guitars cutting sharply against her dominant vocal delivery, and a darkly ominous drum nest.

“The vocals are ugly,” she says of the track’s meaning. “It’s about exploding platitudes and empty, exaggerated, romantic gestures born from guilt, regret and fear. Think of buying flowers when you’ve done something wrong, the flowers seem so ugly in those situations."

PROM join Girl Band for several live shows this autumn, as follows:

October
06 London 100 Club

November
03 Brighton Patterns
04 Manchester Soup Kitchen
05 Leeds Nation of Shopkeepers
