DOE - SINCERE
We introduced this London fuzz-punk three-piece here back in early 2014, now they hit up with this first attitude-fuelled single of biting riffs and feisty melodics off their debut LP, 'Some Things Last Longer Than You', to be released on September 9 on OFR Specialist Subject. Star rating: 3/5




KIKO BUN - CAN'T HOLD BACK
Premiered on Radio 1 and released two weeks ago via Island Records, the follow-up single to ‘Sticky Situation’ that saw the Londoner amass over 750,000 streams on Spotify. The soul and roots singer-songwriter blends hip-hop, soul and sunny Caribbean reggae for an infectious summer groove. Catch live on July 13 at London's Electrowerkz. Star rating: 3.5/5




THE ACADEMIC - MIXTAPE 2003
Produced by Philip Magee, the new rock 'n' roll blaster from the Irish four-piece, which scoots along on power-driven guitars and irresistible vocals. Following their debut EP ‘Loose Friends’, released late last year, it's out on August 12. Catch live on July 16 at Galway's  – Festival Big Top. Star rating: 4/5




WESTERMAN - MOTHER SONG
Taken from debut EP 'Harvard' (out now), the London songwriter delivers his delicately intimate, folk-infused vocals alongside intricate acoustic melodies in his latest offering that is reminiscent of John Martyn. Star rating: 3.5/5




THE CLEAR - MARIA BROWNE
Released this week, the Sheffield trio follow ‘Yesterday Morning’ with this new track that they describe as "a bit of a war protest song, but with a cool Rhodes piano vibe!" 60s retro vibe with smooth harmonies and a lyrical message. Star rating: 3/5
