SCK CHX share their bonzer debut EP 'Downward Dog'

Words: Linn Branson

There's nothing that quite excites Little Indie's editor as much as a pile of new tracks from a bunch of Australian or Kiwi bands.

On hearing 'Spinning Around' at the end of last year from Sydney three-piece SCK CHX, it was instant love and acclaim from this quarter.

Now Matt Digges, Josh Pearson and Andrew Tudehope have released 'Downward Dog, the debut EP from which said track comes, through their own Yeah Nah Yeah label, and where over eight tracks they mix garage-psych/post-punk with Aussie surf-punk and a touch of East Coast US.

Apart from the thumpingly glorious 'Spinning Around' opener, we also recommend - but really all are worth the listening time - 'Feel The Same' for the vocal and guitar riff; 'Monday' ("this bad boy has more hooks than a coat rack") for the propulsive beat and again, Digges' vocal, and 'Underwater' for its catchy, bouncy vibe.
